Michael Lin Baum

Distinguished attorney Michael Lin Baum began his legal career after graduating with highest distinction from the School of Law at the University of California, Los Angeles. Since that time, he has earned some of his field’s foremost honors, including a preeminent AV 5 rating from Martindale Hubbell and a perfect score of 10 from Avvo for his work in consumer advocacy, consumer fraud, and pharmaceutical personal injury and wrongful death cases. Likewise, Aviation Counsel Magazine named Michael Lin Baum to its List of Recommended High Flyers, regarded as one of the most elite designations for aviation lawyers. In 2002, he was awarded a National Air Disaster Foundation Safety Award.

Michael Lin Baum is the senior managing partner at Baum, Hedlund, Aristei & Goldman. During his 27 years with the Los Angeles office of this nationwide law firm, he and his team of lawyers have litigated thousands of cases related to the prescription drug and commercial aviation industries. He has proven extremely effective at uncovering evidence that points to a company’s culpability. In one matter, Mr. Baum found graphs created by General Electric engineers that predicted the failure of the DC-10 aircraft engine. Following the crash of a DC-10, the graphs served as a key piece of evidence in a suit against United Airlines. In another airplane disaster case, his firm negotiated a public apology by the carrier, Air Midwest, the first on record.

Mr. Baum now focuses his practice on representing consumers of defective and harmful pharmaceutical products. He and his fellow attorneys concentrate on class action lawsuits, whistleblower qui-tam cases, and mass torts related to drug manufacturers’ products.

When away from his practice, Michael takes pleasure in spending time with his family, playing volleyball, foosball, and boogie-boarding in the ocean.
